Which Musical Theatre Program Is Right For You?
Several students in my studio are currently in the process of preparing for their collegiate auditions for BFA programs across the country.
Are you trying to find the best program for you?
MajoringinMusic.com wrote a short blog post talking about several things to look for in a program.
Playbill just released their Top 10 Schools that are represented on Broadway 2018 – I’m proud to say that I am the alumni of both #1 NYU and #10 Penn State University.
Onstageblog.com wrote another list of their top 25 choices.
When I was looking for a Musical Theatre Masters’ Program, I personally chose NYU for the following reasons:
- I wanted to live in New York, in the heart of the theatre world.
- NYU has an incredible reputation with their musical theatre program.
- I wanted to work with people who continue to work in the business.
- As a voice teacher, I was able to also get an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy and teach at NYU.
Make a list of things that you want to do/learn more of while at school. Think of your ideal living environment. Contact faculty at each institution with questions and visit each place! See if you can see yourself living there for an extended period of time.
Happy searching!
